Situation:
How do I filter internal traffic based on IP address?

Solution:
You can use the Address filter to include or exclude hits based on the network address where they originate. For example, you can create a filter that excludes all activity from your own domain. You can use address filters to include or exclude hits based on origin by specifying one or more of the following criteria:

• A domain range such as *.webtrends.com
• A domain type such as .com, .net, or .edu
• A region or country
• An IP address range such as 10.* or 192.168.*

To specify addresses to filter, type one or more addresses or ranges in the text box, or select a domain or domain type from the Address list. You can use a single asterisk as a wild card when specifying an address range. You can also use CIDR notation. Separate multiple addresses or ranges with spaces .

Note
If you use CIDR notation, specify address ranges using a four-byte format. For example, specify 12.34.56.78/31. The Address filter does not support CIDR address ranges with a different number of bytes.

The following examples show how WebTrends Analytics interprets address filter definitions:
204.245.240.0-63
All numeric IP addresses from 204.245.240.000 through 204.245.240.63
204.245.240.0-204.245.240.64
All numeric IP addresses from 204.245.240.0 through 204.245.240.64.
204.245.230-240.*
All numeric IP addresses from 204.245.230.0 through 204.245.240.255
204.245.240.64/26
All IP addresses belonging to the classless subnet 204.245.240.64 - 204.245.240.127, expressed in CIDR notation.
204.245.240.*
All IP addresses from 204.245.240.000 through 204.245.240.255
*.webtrends.com
Addresses with a sub-domain that appears to the left of this domain (such as www.webtrends.com or ftp.webtrends.com). Addresses without a sub-domain (such as webtrends.com) are excluded.

Addresses that include the specified domain, with or without a sub-domain (such as www.webtrends.com, ftp.webtrends.com, or webtrends.com).
